For Sawtelle residents, Wilshire Oral Surgery and Implant Center is not across town. Our practice at 12300 Wilshire Blvd #326, Los Angeles, CA 90025 is located within the Sawtelle district itself, in the 90025 zip code shared by the residential blocks, restaurants, and community businesses that define this neighborhood. Patients from the streets near Sawtelle Avenue, Olympic Boulevard, and the Sawtelle Japantown corridor often walk or take a two-minute drive to reach us. For a dental implant procedure that requires multiple appointments, that proximity is a real advantage.
Our practice serves a diverse Sawtelle patient population, and our team communicates in English, Spanish, and Farsi/Persian. If you or a family member is more comfortable discussing your care in another language, we work to accommodate that.
Sawtelle patients who lose a tooth face the same decision as any patient: replace it with a bridge, a partial denture, or a dental implant. Of these options, a dental implant is the only one that replaces the tooth at the root level, stimulates the jawbone to prevent bone loss, and functions identically to a natural tooth without affecting adjacent healthy teeth. According to the National Library of Medicine, dental implants are among the most well-documented restorative options in dentistry, with a decades-long clinical record supporting their effectiveness.
Bridges replace the visible tooth but require reducing the adjacent teeth on either side to serve as anchors. Partial dentures restore function but are removable, can shift or require adhesive, and do nothing to preserve the underlying bone. For patients who want a solution they do not have to think about, clean any differently from natural teeth, or replace periodically, an implant is consistently the better long-term choice.
The first step is a consultation that includes Cone Beam 3D imaging, which creates a precise three-dimensional map of the implant site, bone volume, nerve location, and surrounding anatomy. This imaging allows us to plan the implant’s position, depth, and angle with accuracy before any surgical step begins. We explain our findings clearly and answer your questions before you commit to any treatment.
If the implant site needs bone volume augmentation, we perform bone grafting as part of the process, sometimes on the same visit as implant placement depending on the case. IV sedation is available for patients who prefer it, administered by our board-certified surgeons in-office. After osseointegration, your general dentist or prosthodontist places the final crown. Our post-operative care instructions guide you through each recovery phase.
Sawtelle residents with employer-sponsored or privately purchased PPO dental plans may have partial coverage for implant-related procedures when the treatment is medically indicated. We verify your benefits before your procedure and provide a detailed cost estimate before any surgical commitment. For patients paying out of pocket or whose plan covers less than the full cost, we offer flexible payment options through CareCredit, Alphaeon, and Cherry. Our insurance and financing page has full detail on billing and coverage for patients throughout West LA.

Yes. Our team communicates in English, Spanish, and Farsi/Persian. If you or a family member would prefer to discuss your treatment plan, pre-operative instructions, or post-operative care in Spanish or Farsi, we can accommodate that. Clear communication throughout the implant process is important to us.
Typically, you will have a consultation and imaging appointment, an implant placement appointment, and follow-up visits during the osseointegration phase before your crown is placed by your general dentist. If bone grafting is required, that may be a separate appointment or combined with placement depending on the case. Being close to our office makes the multi-appointment process considerably more convenient.
Untreated gum disease is a contraindication to implant placement because periodontal bacteria increase the risk of peri-implantitis and implant failure. If you have active gum disease, it must be treated and brought under control before implant surgery is appropriate. We review your periodontal status at your consultation and coordinate with your general dentist as needed.
We accept commercial PPO dental insurance plans. We do not currently participate in Medi-Cal dental for implant procedures. For patients without PPO coverage, we offer financing through CareCredit, Alphaeon, and Cherry to make treatment more accessible. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.
Some patients notice mild tenderness or sensitivity at the implant site during the early integration phase, which is normal and typically manageable with standard pain medication. If sensitivity becomes significant or is accompanied by swelling, unusual discharge, or looseness at the implant site, contact us promptly. Routine follow-up appointments during the healing phase allow us to monitor the implant site regularly.
Sawtelle residents looking for dental implant care do not have to leave the neighborhood. Wilshire Oral Surgery and Implant Center is within walking distance of the Sawtelle Japantown corridor, staffed by board-certified surgeons with deep West LA roots, and equipped to handle every stage of your implant case, from imaging and grafting to surgery and follow-up.
